Journeys

Long before I was 50

I have been networking since 1980 and discovered long ago that relationship marketing enhances my life and that of my family.  Over the years, I’ve been able to supplement our family income to make those “extras” (and sometimes the basics) possible.  I appreciated the extra cash but I’ve been blessed with the relationships I’ve formed.  Associates become friends for life.  Mentors challenge me to become a better me.  Teams support each other through the ups and the downs.

Reflections

Reflecting back I recognize my favorite role that I ever had (other that that of mom) was that of camp director.  Six summers of complete delight, as July was camp month and six winters of detailed planning and organizing – I loved it all! I loved the relationships I built with my staff and with the campers.  Many of them I still connect with today, some twenty years later.  I now listen to them share their struggles of dealing with their kids who are almost the age that the parents were when I first met them.

I admit, life didn’t turn the way I had dreamed of it as a teenager.  You know.. the live happily ever after dreams.  Instead, there were tears and heartbreak.  Trials and hardships have been plenty on my journey.

Do I regret travelling this way?

Do I regret my choices?

NO! I definitely say a resounding no!

I know that each of those roadblocks and hurdles along the way have made me who I am today.  I am proud of my accomplishments to date.  I am proud of who I have become.  And I am most excited about the future and who I will be in another decade.

My journey is far from over!  I look forward to each new day as I know my Lord directs each step I take and the road we are on together, He and I, gets more exciting each day.
