So many things to learn!

So many things to consider!

So many things to spend money on!

It really can be overwhelming.

So here’s where I’m at – I have a site up – several actually;  I have some things to promote; several actually - some as a product or service as well as some affiliate products.  I even have my list / email software ready to go.

Now I just need people to get on my list and find my products so they can consider buying them.

I need to build my traffic!

That means my next step is getting traffic to my sites so I started doing some research.  I discovered that most sites tell you to buy traffic and pay for advertising.

Well, I can’t go that route basically because I can’t really afford it.  So I was chatting with some associates on Facebook (we are friends there aren’t we, if not, just click on this sentence).

My friend Ely overseas told me he has had great success building his list using Give Away events.  He even offered to give me some products I can use to be my gifts.

I know in the past I’ve been so some of these and I have a download folder to proof it.  I look at all the downloads I have to find one that’s related to my niche of list building as I want to use a gift that I can edit to include links to my sites.

Traffic Decision Time

So I’ve decided to give this a try.  I am going to learn to drive traffic to my sites and my offers using a Give Away.  So I’ve signed up for my first GiveAway and now I need to figure out what I’m going to offer.

I already know this – if I’m going to go throught the effort of promoting something, it’s going to promote me and no some guru who already has a big following.  So MRR or PLR products are what I need, and I have started looking over the variety of the ones I’ve bought over the past year.

It’s getting late for today, but I have the product ready.  Tomorrow’s project will be to create the new list in my simple to use it’s just a few clicks and it’s done for me system – if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to click here!

I’m still doing my Twitter promotion and quite a few of them are following me on Facebook.   GiveAways are a free list building tool so I’m going to get it all in place and use that as well.  In fact, I think I might actually do a bit more research and then write an article about it and used it as a blog post on PricelessPotential.com

If you’ve used GiveAways, please leave a comment and share your results and ideas.

Traffic Puzzle Pieces

More puzzle pieces!

I really don’t know if I can absorb all of this! Maybe it’s just too much to all figure out.

So you’re wondering – what in the world is she talking about?

Here’s what happened. I told you I signed up for this 6 week course on How to Get Traffic – and it’s mostly focused on getting traffic through Facebook. I love that because I love Facebook! So I can see myself using many of the strategies I’m learning.

So Jonathan sent me, well all of us on his list, not just me personally, an email this week announcing a bonus webinar. Obviously I sign up for it and attend.

Good SEO brings Traffic

It starts out talking about traffic … and then it gets pretty into the whole concept of getting traffic by mastering SEO. Have you heard of that? SEO – Search Engine Optimization. This means setting up your website so Google like it and lists you on the page when someone searches for what your website is about.

Now, over the years of being on the net I have often read about this, but I didn’t worry about it. Now apparently I need it if I want to build good traffic to my site.

BUT – I haven’t even mastered the strategies of using Facebook. There are not enough hours in the day to do all of this. It’s too much information and I just see all the things I need to do and although I make my lists, it seems I get nothing done.

EXCEPT – I always show up for the webinars and I read all the emails I get sent. Maybe that’s not a good thing. But the time I do that, there’s no time left and I really haven’t worked on my site or my business.

I make a DECISION – I really need to implement the things I already know before I learn more things. So although I really like and trust Jonathan’s teachings and I know I’d learn much, I decided to NOT buy his SEO program. I have to finish this Traffic program and the program with Tina AND IMPLEMENT what I learn, before I sign up to learn new things.

I’ve also decided that I’m going to scale down the emails I get. It seems in the last month my Inbox has doubled. I know why. Every time I downloaded a free report or bought a $7 ebook I had to sign up on someones list. Now I’m on so many lists I’m overwhelmed. It’s time to unsubscribe.

CHOOSING who will be my mentors is the first step. I can’t have 35 teachers … so I’m narrowing it down to the basics. Maria, Tina & Art (they’re a team of sorts) and Jonathan (for traffic info) and Glenn & Didi (for my video classes) and for inspiration I’ll listen to Sandi’s Monday Night Calls. I know, it still looks like a lot, but by just focusing on the three areas of business training and adding the mindset call, this should really help me focus on getting the business launched.

I’m getting the skills I need … next step is to really narrow it down to what aspect of Internet Marketing or Building a Business Online line I want to focus on for my first phase of my new business. I’ve realized this week that I have too broad a scope and I need to narrow it down to a more defined target market.

But more on that another time. I think I’ve rambled enough for now. I don’t feel so overwhelmed anymore. That is a good thing!

Getting Traffic

I’ve been thinking about my lemonade stand and the dead end road.  (lemonade stand post)

I realize that just getting a website up and live is not going to make me an income… even if I use all the best of the tricks they teach.

It’s like having the newest and most beautiful lemonade stand – the designs and fashions of 2010 so it’s really eye catching.   You know it should be a people stopper!  But there are no people walking by to stop.

So while I’m still not 100% sure of what my exact niche will be, I do realize that I need to understand how to get my lemonade stand on the main road… but not the freeway because no one stops on the freeway!   My stand would just be a blink and a bleep as the traffic flies by.

I need TRAFFIC

It’s that main road and some side road traffic I’m after.

So I did some more research on how to get traffic.   Read a lot of what the gurus and coaches talk about.

It seems the 2010 traffic strategy is the area of social media.   And I have a lot to learn about that.

So I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a course in getting traffic via social media using Facebook.  Since I love Facebook, I figure this would be a great place for me to start.   The coach in this is a good looking guy named Jonathan.

It cost me a bit more than I usually pay but there are so many great reviews of this guy on the net.  He seems to really know traffic flow.

Best part is that I can study this whenever it fits into my schedule as each week there are modules uploaded to the member site and then on Fridays there will be a Q & A for that week’s section.   I can handle that.  Gives us a change to put things into practice and then if there are problems we can ask for help.

I sure hope I’m not overloading myself. My training with Maria is at least 2 webinars a week and then with Tina for the Social Media it’s also another hour. I know I need to figure this all out and get all my accounts set up with the Twitter and LinkedIn and so on … but I also need traffic.

I designated November as the month for research.   It’s going great.   I just never knew that doing this research would also give me so many “homework” assignments … or calls to action as Maria like to call them.

This week I have just spent so much time in webinars and calls.   I had in invite to a new Mastermind group that starting up as a way of brainstorming marketing ideas; an invite to special call with Sandy K about mindset (and I usually listen to her Monday call as well); the regular session with Tina; the two with Maria and then she also had an extra webinar on Monday about A Day in the Life of an Internet Marketer.    In fact, tonight I was registered for two webinars at the same time, but I ended up going to Tina’s as I figured that’s the information I paid for.

Oh, then on Saturday I am registered for a intro webinar on Getting Attention with Videos.   It was a free one to sign up for and since I won that camera last week, I thought maybe I should learn more about videos.

Traffic Goal

My goal is that by the end of the month I will have a clearer idea of where I’m heading and how I’m getting there.  That will become my business plan.   I know that without a real plan, I’ll just be flopping like a fish out of water… and that’s not the image I have of my life after 55.

I know it’s late, but I better get back to my traffic module; our first Q&A webinar is tomorrow night and I still only on the first of two training videos in this weeks module.    I want to be able to ask intelligent questions.

I kind of feel like I’m back in college with all these classes I’m going to and the homework assignments.   I will admit though, that I love that I can do all of this from my home … wrapped up and snuggly in my cozy blanket.   It’s definitely getting to be winter here and my arthritis is telling me there are storms coming.  I’m thankful I can study without leaving home.
