Black Friday reveals my lack of organization

logo

I think I’m making progress.  I am slowing starting to understand how to promote affiliate products and even how to get some traffic to my sites.

Yesterday was Black Friday in the US and my Inbox was FULL of Black Friday Specials.  WOW.  It seemed like I spend hours just wading through the emails and links.

It all starts with one email and one offer for something for $3 … so you figure – “OK, Sounds interesting, I’ll buy that”.   So you do the PayPal thing and the comes the OTO (One Time Offer) and the other bonuses.  Every time you have to enter your email address and you know you’re signing up for someone else’s list.

Buy the end of the day, you look at your PayPal receipts and realize you spend much more than the $3.   LOL  And you have an Inbox full of more emails with more offers and a download folder filled with pdf files and zip files of all the things you just bought and the free bonuses that come with them.

Now just to find time to read them all or listen to the video trainings I just downloaded.

Need Organization

I’ve realized that I need to organize all of this information.  Why?  Well yesterday I just about made the mistake of buy the same software twice from two different people.  How did that happen?  Well, so many of these things come with the rights to re-brand it and so one person was selling it under one name and the next under a different name.  It wasn’t until I looked at the content that I realized I already had that software on my computer.

So now what?  Well, I’ve made a Excel spreadsheet.  I’m recording the date of the purchase; whether it was PayPal or ClickBank; the order ID or PayPal ID; the name of the product; the type of product (ie report, video, membership, etc); the website it’s form; the email contact for the product; and finally, the name of the guru who made the product.

Not only will this make it easier at tax time as I know these product purchases will be tax write-offs, but it will also be make it easier for me to find the product for my personal use and if I need support, at least I’ll know where to go for help.

My spreadsheet also track if what rights I have with the product – whether it is personal use, Resell Rights or Private Label Rights.   This is really important because I know that as I get my sites up and functioning and my offers made, I’m going to need bonuses and give aways – so until I have enough of my own products created, I will be using some of these products that I have give away rights to… or if I have the to re-brand it, I will.  That will quickly get me a product that looks like it’s mine, but I haven’t put the work and effort into actually creating it – I just recreated it as my own.

Conclusion

If there is one point that really hit me this week – it’s how important having a list is!

That might be an area I could “specialize” in.  The area of list building – the how, the why, the system, the followup.

I know originally I was thinking of focusing on Getting Started in Your Online Business, but the more research I do, the more I realize this is just TOO large a scope to brand as my own.  I need to make it more narrow.

And list building is important – to both online and offline businesses.  So even when I am networking offline and people ask “What do you do” and can show them why their business needs a list – whether it’s a pizza place or a real estate office.

This id definitely something to think about …  and pray about.

If this is the path for me, I know that my inner spirit will receive the confirmation.
